William Bryan Demuth was born on May 20, 1896 in Arlington, Reno County, Kansas. He was the son of John Demuth and Mary Habecker Demuth. He entered the military service in California and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 21, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
