Joseph Demikat entered the military service in Maine. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Windsorville Cemetery, Windsorville, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA.
