James William Cosgrove was born on January 14, 1894 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on November 1, 1918 in France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
