Eugene Sawyer Carter was the son of Elwood Eugene Carter and Delia Veronica Lally Carter. He entered the military service in Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France.
