Philip Joseph Callery was born on October 31, 1891 in Milford, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of John P. Callery and Sarah Kane Callery. He enlisted on March 9, 1914 and was mustered to France on April 7, 1917. He was transferred to Company M, 104th Infantry, 26th Division on September 27, 1917. He was married to Emroy (Parker) Callery,in North Adams, MA she gave birth to his son while he was in France on December 24, 1917. Sergeant Philip J. Callery was killed while serving in France during WWI, on Feb 1, 1918. Tragically he was accidently killed during Bayonet Practice. He is now buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Milford, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
