Joseph Velmure was born on March 24, 1898 in Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Massachusetts National Guard on May 21, 1917. He was assigned to Company G, 103rd Infantry, 26th Division and was deployed overseas on September 25, 1917. He was Killed in Action on July 17, 1918 in France at the age of 20 and is now buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
