Henry John Sweeney was born on September 12, 1897 in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. He was the son of Jeremiah and Catherine (O’Dowd) Sweeney. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on February 18, 1918 in France at the age of 20 and is now buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA.
