Lester Ashton Stone was born on May 21, 1882 in Fitchburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Frank S. Stone and Maud A. Ashton Stone. He was a dentist and graduated from Harvard Dental School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a First Lieutenant in the Medical Department of 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action at Bras, near Verdun on October 17, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
