Luther Hampton Stivers was born on August 23, 1893, son of William Joseph Stivers and Sarah Long Stivers. He entered the military service in Kentucky and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France.
