Harry H. Sherman was born on January 31, 1897 in Calais, Washington County, Maine. He was the son of Fred Sherman and Mary Wallace. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 11, 1917 in Eastport and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 22, 1918 in France at the age of 21 and is now buried in Calais Cemetery, Calais, Washington County, Maine, USA.
