Charles Elishia Sherman, Jr. was born on January 26, 1891 in Boothbay Harbor, Lincoln County, Maine. He was the son of Charles Elisha Sherman and Mary Ella Baker Sherman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Company M, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action in Chateau Thierry in the second battle of the Marne on July 19, 1918 at the age of 27. He is now buried in Oceanview Cemetery, Boothbay, Lincoln County, Maine, USA.
