Arthur E. Shaw was born on November 6, 1897 in Franklin, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. He was the son of Arthur Eliphalet Shaw and Mary Nellie Shepherd Shaw. He enlisted in the Army on July 27, 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company E, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on July 13, 1918 in Xivray, France by a shrapnel atap 20 and is now buried in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, USA.
