James “Jim” Sharvin was born on October 27, 1890 in North Chicago, Lake County, Illinois. He was the son of John Sharvin and Mary Werkau Sharvin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on November 11, 1918 in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France, France at the age of 28 and is now buried in Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville, Lake County, Illinois, USA.
