Harold W. McElhiney was born in 1895. Harold enlisted Company E of the 2nd Regiment of the Maine National Guard at Skowhegan on 14 Apr 1917. He was promoted to Corporal 2 Jul 1917. Corporal McElhiney sailed with Company E of the 103rd Infantry Regiment from New York on 25 Sep 1917 aboard the Cunard Line RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Saxon. He died on June 16, 1918 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Elmwood Cemetery, Searsport, Waldo County, Maine, USA.
