Emile J. LaPlante was born in Canada. He entered the military service in Maine and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 24, 1918 in France and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. He also has a memorial located in Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery, Waterville, Kennebec County, Maine, USA.
