When Berdan Jewett Kenison was born on April 16, 1894, in Denmark, Maine, his father, Wilbur, was 21 and his mother, Amelia, was 18. He had three sisters. he served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company B, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 22, 1918 at Soissons, France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Oxford County, Maine, USA.
