When James Matthew Forsaith was born on April 15, 1894, in Chester, New Hampshire, his father, Rufus, was 33 and his mother, Mary, was 22. He had two brothers and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company C, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on September 27, 1918 in Frace at the age of 24 and is now buried in Chester Village Cemetery, Chester, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA.
