Harold Field Eadie was born on August 22, 1893 in Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He was the son of James Lewis & Elizabeth (Connell) Eadie. He attended Phillips Academy, and Dartmouth College. In his junior year at Dartmouth, WWI began, and he left school to accept a first lieutenant's commission. He served in Co. C, 103d Regiment. He was killed in action north of Toul France. Upon his casket was placed the French war cross, awarded to him for bravery. After the war ended, his body was returned to the United States, for reburial in the family plot in Forest Hills Cemetery, Utica NY on 29 October 1921. His name is commemorated on the tablet inside a church in Belleau, France and ranked as a Second Lieutenant.
