Born July 20, 1888 in Roundstone, County Galway, Ireland. Joseph Clougherty entered the military service in New Hampshire (Or New York). He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. Arrived in NY in May 1913 on the SS Baltic, surname spelling Cloherty, same as birth and Irish census records. Co. B, 103rd Infantry Regt., 26th Division. Died of Wounds received in Action.
