Chester Leon Briggs was born on February 26, 1898 in Maine. He was the son of Thomas Hanford Briggs and Elizabeth Ann Wiggins Briggs. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1918 at the age of 20 and is now buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton, Aroostook County, Maine, USA.
