Fred Bittner was born on April 16, 1889 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Company K, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on September 12, 1918 in Battle of St. Mihiehl in France at the age of 29 and is now buried in Willow Cemetery, Oregon, Lucas County, Ohio, USA.
