Phillip Michael Shannon was born on November 2, 1893 in Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of William Shannon and Mary Kelly. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company F, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on August 13, 1918 in France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Saint Bernard Cemetery, Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA.
