Joseph Roberts was born on February 21, 1893 in Norfolk, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Master Sergeant in Company M, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on March 19, 1918 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
