Joseph G. Pistorius was born on August 31, 1886 in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob Pistorius and Mary Holzapfel Pistorius. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Company G, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on September 15, 1918 in France at the age of 32 and is now buried in Saint Peter's Cemetery, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania, USA.
