Charles Rossiter Middaugh was born on March 22, 1883 in Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of John H. Middaugh and Flora May Prouty Middaugh. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Second Lieutenant in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on July 23, 1918 in Epideas, near Chateau Thierry, France at the age of 35 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Mount Evergreen Cemetery, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, USA.
