Charles August Matthias was born in 1895. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on April 11, 1918 and is now buried in Greens Farms Church Upper Cemetery, Westport, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA.
