Jeremiah F. Leahy was born on April 10, 1894 in Norfolk, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of Jeremiah Leahy and Mary Ann McGrath Leahy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company M, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on June 20, 1918 and is now buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Norfolk, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA.
