When George Victor Lawson was born on March 25, 1895, in Naugatuck, Connecticut, his father, Berndt, was 40 and his mother, Johanna, was 37. He had five brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on October 4, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA.
