Harold Francis Lancaster was born on March 7, 1898 in Mitchell County, Iowa. He was the son of James Lancaster and Martha Edwin Peterson Lancaster. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on September 26, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.
