Peter Joseph Kohler was born on September 17, 1898 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of John B. Kohler and Gertrude A. Kohler. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company A, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on June 22, 1918 in France at the age of 19 and is now buried in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA.
