Lonnie H. Kirby was born on April 3, 1896. He was the son of Wingate J. Kirby and Eunice C. Carraway Kirby. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 26, 1918 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Olanta, Florence County, South Carolina, USA.
