William Joseph Kalabza was born on February 22, 1898 in New York. He was the son of Albert Kalabza and Mary Moravec. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company F, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 23, 1918 in France at the age of 20 but his current burial place is unknown.
