George Wilbur Irwin was born on August 16, 1895 in Fayetteville, Johnson County, Missouri. He was the son of Edward Joseph Irwin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company K, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 24, 1918 in France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Warrensburg, Johnson County, Missouri, USA.
