When Jacob Homer Hoops Jr. was born on March 5, 1888, his father, Jacob, was 37 and his mother, Angelina, was 29. He had two brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Company D, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on September 26, 1918 and is now buried in Crooksville Cemetery, Crooksville, Perry County, Ohio, USA.
