Theodore Frederick Hesse was born on June 20, 1899 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut. He was the son of Frederick Hesse and Grace B. Hollister Hesse. He enlisted in Company D, 102nd Regiment on March 22, 1916. He sailed for France on Sept. 7, 1917 but died at the battle of Seicheprey in France on April 20, 1918. He was decorated with the Croix de Guerre for bravery in action. He was buried at Mandren, France, and in 1921 his remains were brought to this country and were interred at the Fair Haven Union Cemetery, June 27, 1921.
