Frank Raymond Gengler was born on January 2, 1894 in California. Gengler was employed by the Marysville Fuel Company and was a conscientious worker. Gengler was a member of Company E, 102nd Infantry, when he died, but had been with Company I, 161st Infantry. He died in France as a result of bronchial pneumonia, after escaping fatal injury and being gassed in two battles. He is now buried in Sierra View Memorial Park, Olivehurst, Yuba County, California, USA.
