James Carver was born on April 21, 1882 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut. He was the son of James Carver and Mary Coughlin Carver. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company B, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 25, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
