Son of Frances E. and Sarah Jane Bright; born September 7, 1895, Henry County, Ind. Living on a farm near Elwood, Madison County, when he entered service September 21, 1917, Elwood, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. Overseas in May, 1918; assigned to Company A, 102nd Infantry, 26th Division. Took part in battle of Chateau-Thierry, and was killed in action July 23, 1918. The American Legion Post, Alexandria, Ind., named in his honor.
