Philip Edward Bergin was born on November 13, 1895 in Unionville, Hartford County, Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company M, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on October 28, 1918 at the age of 24 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. he also has a cenotaph in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Avon, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA.
