Ernest Clayton Bell was born in 1889 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on April 20, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.
