Lowell Clifford Anderson was born in Montgomery County, Illinois, on May 28, 1895. He was the son of William Luther Anderson and Cora S. Anderson. He was in an Iowan regiment because he and his brother had been kicked off the family farm and moved to Pottawatomie County in Iowa, where they were both living in 1917-1918. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. According to the Honor Roll of Litchfield and Montgomery County his death was from pneumonia brought on by trench exposure on November 12, 1918 in Limoges, France. His body was disinterred from Grave 160 in American City #151 in Limoges in late 1921, and reinterred at Arlington on January 5, 1922.
