When Simeon Leonard Nickerson was born on November 24, 1892, in Rochester, Massachusetts, his father, Allen, was 38 and his mother, Mary, was 35. He had one brother. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on July 23, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
