Sylvester E. Nichols was born on August 12, 1890. He enlisted in the Army in Portsmouth in August 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on September 12, 1918 and is now buried in Harr Cemetery, Letitia, Greenup County, Kentucky, USA.
