When Paul E. Kittredge was born on December 31, 1890, in Newton, Massachusetts, his father, Edward, was 24 and his mother, Effie, was 24. He married Sarah J Hammersley on September 30, 1914, in Lowell, Massachusetts. They had one child during their marriage. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army. He was serving in the 101st Infantry, 26th Division. His promotion came two days before his death and three weeks before the end of World War I. He was Killed in Action on October 23, 1918 in Argonne Forest, France and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
