When Frank Roman Houck was born on December 16, 1895, in Attica, Ohio, his father, Isaac, was 33 and his mother, Johannah, was 34. He had one brother and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was killed by friendly fire during World War I, he was shot by a soldier behind him in practice maneuver and lived approximately four days. On record as death of pneumonia.
