Raymond E. Hesselgesser was born on January 12, 1895. He was the son of Ellis Hesselgesser and Elizabeth Sarah McGinnis Hesselgesser. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on December 8, 1918 at the age of 23 and is now buried in Sarverville Cemetery, Sarver, Butler County, Pennsylvania, USA.
