When George Wallace Foster was born on April 15, 1894, in Cuttingsville, Vermont, his father, Fred, was 30 and his mother, Edith, was 30. He had two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a First Lieutenant in Company D, 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He participated in every engagement of the Infantry between Feb. 8 and Oct. 25, 1918. That, includes Chemin-des-Dames Sector, Toul Sector, Pas Fini Sector, Aisne-Marne Offensive, St. Mihiel Offensive, Troyan Sector, Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He was Killed in Action on October 25, 1918 in Argonne, France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Laurel Glen Cemetery, Cuttingsville, Rutland County, Vermont, USA.
