Charles F. Fankhauser was born on February 18, 1894. He was the son of Peter Fankhauser and Mary Ann Stauffer Fankhauser. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on October 2, 1918 at the age of 24 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France.
