When Mortimer Felix Dowling was born on April 17, 1895, in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, his father, Bartholomew, was 27 and his mother, Elisa, was 22. He had four brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on October 24, 1918 and is now buried in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
