Simon J. Donovan was born on March 23, 1900 in Winthrop, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 25, 1918 in France at the age of 18 and is now buried in Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
